Who are The Friday Coaching Company?

We are Kathy and Alison. We started The Friday Coaching Company because we know firsthand how overwhelming mid-career life can feel. After working together for four years, we’ve seen how easy it is to lose sight of your purpose when you’re juggling everything. That’s why we’re so passionate about helping other professional women reconnect with what really matters to them and create a future they’re excited to embrace.

Mid-career can be a time of change, reflection, and uncertainty. Many professional women find themselves questioning their next steps—whether to push for a promotion, seek a better work-life balance, or even explore a completely new path. At the same time, the pressures of work, family, and personal well-being can make these decisions feel overwhelming.

At The Friday Coaching Company, we work with women facing these exact challenges. Whether it’s navigating career transitions, building confidence for the next step, or simply figuring out what they really want, coaching provides the space and support to find clarity and take action.

Alison Martin

With over 20 years’ experience in NHS management and a background in psychology, I am passionate about helping professional women achieve work-life balance and confidently navigate their next career steps.

I know how complex and messy life can get—balancing work, family, and personal goals often feels like spinning plates. I’ve been there! I’m a mum to two lively teenage boys and share my home with my husband, a dog, a cat, and a delightful flock of chickens. Life is never dull! Between my NHS role, school governor duties, and the occasional family adventure , I deeply value the importance of making time for what really matters.

I get a lot of satisfaction from working with mid-career women who are at a crossroads—whether it’s figuring out their next steps professionally, building confidence to take on new challenges, or achieving a healthier work-life balance. These are the moments when having someone to help you navigate the journey can make all the difference.

Coaching is my way of paying forward the clarity and confidence I’ve found over the years. A couple of years on from qualifying as a coach, I am here with the wonderful Kathy Clark, supporting people as they untangle the busyness of life and build something that works for them.

Kathy Clark

With over 20 years of experience in HR and many years of mentoring people in the HR community, I am passionate about helping women in mid-career.

I’m a working mum to one fabulous daughter and devoted to my family. I have worked and juggled family life for nearly 10 years. But, like many people, the pandemic gave me an opportunity to reflect on what is really important to me. I had grappled with being a working mum since my daughter was born in 2016, still trying to pursue a full time, director-level HR career, to be an amazing mum and wife and have some time for myself. I was aiming, somewhat unrealistically, to be superwoman. I didn’t have the balance right and it was making me unhappy.

Having been offered what should have been the ideal senior role, and realising that it wasn’t what I wanted, I started working with a coach and made some significant life decisions. Experiencing first-hand the power of coaching, the clarity that it brought me and realising that what I loved most about my own work was developing and supporting other people, I embarked on a programme to become a qualified coach myself.

A couple of years on, here I am with the wonderful Alison Martin, with a portfolio career, doing what I love and coaching other women in mid-career through the changes that this stage of life brings.
